Senate Action on Voter ID Bill Delayed

 

Via the Austin American-Statesman:

Several senators said they have been told that the bill to require that voters show an ID before they can vote will be debated starting tomorrow, not today as earlier announced.
 
The only thing that will happen today is that the resolution establishing parliamentary rules for the Senate meeting as a committee of the whole after the Senate convenes at 1:30 p.m.

 

Senators earlier said they expected that a public hearing would occur today and tomorrow, followed by a vote on the bill by Sen. Troy Fraser, R-Horseshoe Bay.

 

Senators said the plan is now to have the public hearing start tomorrow, with a vote expected sometime Wednesday.
